Mudguards for SR to RGS
« on: 19.03. 2016 09:44 »
I'm planning to change my SR to RGS tin ware.. (Mudguards, stays, number plate holder etc.)

Do GoldStar/RGS mudgards fit on a SR frame ?
Type like this:
Front

Rear

and stays ?   Do I use the RGS units ?

Viking,
It is possible but you need front sliders to suit the front, pre 1960, plus the stays.
For the rear you will need all of the RGS brackets and stays.

I put regular Goldie guards on mine which is originally a 1959 Shooting Star frame. The rear is straightforward, you just need the stays and bobbin spacers plus brackets, which are all available. The front was also easy, but I had to settle for just the lower stay, since the fork sliders only had provision for one stay. I later got a pair of sliders with two sets of mountings. The proper RGS items are different I believe.
