Your right RR...  it was originally gold, BUT I personally like the black better,
& as I'm the painter ...  I couldn't convince myself to go gold..
SAD but the chair is LONG gone,  *dunno*
it's just a badly rusted frame missing parts & wheel without any body..

Was it originally a beige Golden Flash or a black one? from the pictures dismantled in the ute, I'd jumped to the conclusion it was the Golden model, but its now looking very black...  *shh*
I'm not keen on the gold;  black looks like a proper colour for an old motorbike. Apologies to owners of real Golden Flash's  *smile*

Time for a update...
I decided I'd disassemble the motor to check that all the work listed on the receipt had been done correctly.. Yep looking good..   Motor is now back in the frame for the 1st time in 30 years  *wink2*

The rider Les Sloan, would give great joy to us young lads taking us all for a blast around
the streets of this sleepy 1 horse town. Lifting the side car high into the air it's a wonder you
could even hear the roar of the motor above our screams of enjoyment.

Oh the horrors!  Could you imagine Les doing this today?  He would be arrested for child endangerment.  I miss blasting down East Texas dirt roads on the running board of a '46 Dodge pick up.  In 50 years or so, the youth of today will fondly remember the joy of their first ipad.  As our "Dear Leader" would say,
Sad.

Apologies to owners of real Golden Flash's

No worries, mine is Gold and yes I did consider putting it back to it's original Black but friends and relations said a big NO

Lovely story, mine didn't get dissembled, just stored in garages for 30 years complete. Like you, it was the 1st bike I went on the back of (in 1974/5) and was last ridden by me in 1988. Now 30 years later is back on the road (as of last week) giving full enjoyment - just needs running in, the kickstart spring replaced (as it got a bit of a shock being used more than once every 6 months (to prevent seizing) - so broke on my 2nd trip out) and enjoying!!

Good luck in getting the final throws of it done - look forward to seeing more photos of it.

I only found out recently that Brian ( the previous owner of the bike ) has had a stroke,
he has had his driving licence taken away & he can no longer work driving trains & is stuck at home, so today I rang him & arranged to pick him up & bought him to see his dad's old bike.
The smile on his face told me I had succeeded in restoring it to a standard his father would have been proud of..  so we had a couple of beers later to celebrate..  *wink2*

I fired her up today, it still needs fine tuning on the carb, but @ least now I know she'll be a goer.  Cant wait to get her out for her 1st run...
And I got to thank Musky, Trev, Bob, Brett, Russ, & any anyone else I've forgotten  *red* for their help with parts & advice..   Without you guys she would still be just a pile of parts..  *yeah*
