i was talking to a coppersmith today about annealing copper head gaskets and he told me after heating them to a cherry red quench them in brine salt water and they will come out clean no carbon just a nice pink. worth a try.

Nice tip Chris. I've never heard that one. Cleaning the scale off with scotchbright is something i won't miss.
