Need 6V Headlight globe.
« on: 15.04. 2016 11:28 »
Hi Guys
Does anyone know where I can buy 6V headlight globes for my BSA A7 Star Twin.

I've attached a picture of the globe below and I can find any number of 12V versions online but 6V ones seem rather rare.

Its a 3 lug globe

Any help appreciated.

I've run up against this problem in the past with my other bike which is also 6V but managed to find globes to suit that but these ones seem more elusive.
Unfortunately I'm a bit of a stickler for originality so don't want to convert to 12V

Thanks
Chris.

Www.draganfly.co.uk supply bulbs, they could not stuff up an order for a bulb surely.....they have stuffed up more complex orders for me though, so I stopped using them. They probably have the best site for finding bsa a7/a10 part numbers etc.

There must be an Aussie stockist of common items like 6v bulbs though! A kiwi one is www.britishspares.com

 Hiya Chris,
 Try Anthony Pearson @ http://www.classicandvintagebulbs.com/

He's in SA near Adelaide, mainly does cars and I think he ships mondays; call/email orders, and ask for a hard copy catalogue

Maybe FJ globes don't work for Chris, as don't my post  *dunno*

if you are still looking you could try try a BPF p36D 6v LED handlamp bulb from here: http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/led-headlamp-bulbs-shop.php
my super rocket is 6v - these bulbs run from 6-24V, plug and play (tho i did have to reverse the high/low beam wires - 2 minutes). the light is whiter and brighter than the old filament bulb and much better at night. and the power use is so low.
there's a thread about them here: http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=9352.15
they costs quite a bit more than old money bulbs but should last forever.
i did plan to change to 12v but now have 6v led tail and head lamps so can't see the point. with a belt drive dynamo kit and DVR2 it charges at low revs and I've got power to spare. time for hand warmers!!!
