Evening all,

Trying to find a BSA part number for the bushes that fit into the frame joiners at the Exhaust/Crank case mounting point.

The stud PN is 67-1251, apparently there are two bushes, one each side, that hold the front and rear ( top and botton ) of the frame together.

OD approx 14.38mm / 17/32"
ID approx 9.5mm / 3/8"

Thanks in advance.

Bill,

From the photos, Josh has a plunger.

Josh,

From my parts book, I can't see any bsuhings where you say, but I'm no plunger expert, except in the loo.

Hi Josh,

I think I know the ones you mean.  My parts book for the plunger and swing arm models up to 1957 shows the stud but not the bushes (spacers).  However, my 1958-on parts book shows them quite clearly but obviously for swing arm models.

Described as a "distance piece" the part number is 42-4071 and using a ruler, the one I have in front of me measures about 15mm o/d, 10mm i/d and is about 12mm long.  If these measurement are roughly the same as yours the above mentioned part number should be ok.

Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the Plunger models so I can't be too specific.

My eyes aint what they used to be but when did you see the photos, must have been a previous post

On the subject of eyes, I had to go for a Retinograph ( I'm type 2 like 10% of the population apparently) during my eye test the optician asked when I last had an eye test, I replied I tell her that exactly as I remember the optician saying there was nothing wrong with my eyes apart from they were 45 years old, I am now 65 years old a fact that she took some exeption to in fact I got a bit of a dressing down and told to get an eye test arranged as soon as.
Jeez some of these woman can get stroppy = no respect for the elderly

If you click on a member's name you are given his "Summary." At the bottom of that you can click to see all of that member's posts, though it's called "latest posts." I am afraid to look at mine, considering how many there have been. The redeeming factor is that I am a fairly fast typist.

1953 Golden Flash Plunger.

My IPC (illustrated parts catalgoue) does not show the bush either, Orabanda Esq assures me he has them in his various bikes and is not visible on his IPC either, so a bit of a mystery.

Width at the joint is approx 30.6mm.

Josh,
I think this is the one you're after.
It measures 9/16"od, 3/8" id and 1 1/8 long.
Its 1/8" shorter than the hole in the frame and made of steel.
Its not in the parts book but should be easy to make.
cheers
