colour scheme experts wanted
« on: 24.04. 2016 19:00 »
any fellow anoraks out there? out on the old gold flash in oxford today and an elderly chap i spoke to had bought a brand new road/super rocket around 1959. unfortunately he sold it for a car but the interesting point was that it s colour was listed as silver and it was the frame and petrol tank silver, the mudguards and oil tank came as black. he said it was a unusual colour scheme at the time. most others being black or red with the frames being mainly black.

I've read of this before someplace, I think!!   it was an option for some or one year, sorry I'm a bit vague about details
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

The Spares Catalogue for the Super Rocket, list's Metallic Princess Grey as an alternative finish to the standard Royal Red,  no alternative Frame colour shown. So you could have Grey Petrol Tank with the rest in Black and or with Grey Tool Box and Oil Tank. Also list's Black Petrol Tank as alternative finish.
1960 Super Rocket, owned since 1966, back on the road 2012 after being laid up for 29yrs.

I thought the only Dove Grey frame was for the late A65 Lightning. I had one.
