G'day Signboy.
Which hub have you got?
Sounds like your missing a spacer or the bearings aren't pushed home fully.
Cheers

Here's a scan of the hub I think you would have.

Check to see if spacer 11042-5822 is fitted behind the bearing, someone may have fitted new bearings and lost the spacer.

Missing spacer is my guess too. You might have a fair idea by laying the wheel flat, and put the plate on (without the nut at first) and see if it binds or spins freely.

If PO said' A10 stoppers',  maybe the shoes are too wide  *dunno*
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

removed the wheel, removed brake plate, and found i can pull the spindle back and forth just over 1/8 ", cant see if there is a spacer there but the left hand locking ring tightens down level with the top surface !   is this correct ?  should the locking ring stick up 1/8" if there WAS a spacer in ??  confused Signboy

Ok guys, FOUND the problem of the locking up wheel when i tighten the spindle nut .....    BRAKE SHOES THE WRONG WAY AROUND !!!,      in my defence, the bike came to me with this problem, so the shoes had been put in incorrectly some time ago, i just took notes on how they came out and replaced the same way !!! tut tut, should have checked,ALSO the play on the spindle was due to the bearing not pressed home enough, replaced with new sealed bearings, now to bed those shoes in again !
