I decided to get a new petrol tank for my A10 bitsa in preparation for the Italian International. My current tank was 2 gallon one and I didnlt want to spend too much time looking for fill ups.
So I ordered an Indain repro tank via Amazon. I went for the Goldie tank for purley aesthetic reasons.
On ordering I was immediately infomed that delivery would be between 13th May and 3rd June. It arrived on 13th May, very well packages and I was not disappointed on opening the package. It certainly felt like it was made of a decent guage steel.
It came with a filler cap but not taps, badges or bracing piece, but I knew this on ordering and a few moment online and I had them in my hands next day.
The paintwork nad chrome were very good but if I was nitpicking the pre-plating polishing has left very minor flats in the chrome side panels so at certain angles you can just see slight uneveness. But this would only be an issue for conkers peeps.
It fitted perfectly with no problems ater I had given it a good rinse out first with parrafin and then repeatedly with a dilute traffic film remover solution and then load os clean water. Lots of small particles came out so it was worth doing. The Bap taps I use have very good filters so I'll run it for a while and then clean then.
Having had fuel in it for a few days it looks like the red primer inside the tank might be blistering so a follow it filter clean my be essential. I'll let you know.
Overall I'm chuffed to bits and compared to what I paid to get my SR tank replated and painted, the £250 cost of a new tank, including postage is incredible value.
Now to get some patina
