Hi all,
Can you convert the A10 plunger 1953 forks, using something like the updated kit that Paul Goff does?

as far as I know the forks remained the same internally so shouldn't be a problem , are you talking 2 way damping ?

Yes, at the moment the forks top-out with a big clonk at the thought of a pot hole!

Check your oil might not have enough oil in it if it is clunking.

  • Last had an A10 in 1976, in 2011 it was time for my 2nd one. It was the project from HELL (but I learned a lot....)

Stanchions changed slightly over the years, some have 2 damper holes and some just one. I don't know if the 2 way damping conversions need to have a particular stanchion type to work properly, but it's worth finding that (hopefully someone on here will know) out if so then you may need check what stanchion type you have, later ones fit early models provided both stanchions are upgraded.

It's also possible the stanchion length varied between models, which may affect the kit you buy, anyone know if that's the case?

I beleive...
The length is the same BUT early ones have only 1 hole EACH side 2 in total, & smaller bushes
The Later type have 2 holes each side 4 in total & larger bushes..

BTW forgot to add that fitting the 2 way dampers from George Prew was one of the best up grades I've done to the bike , once fitted ( easy job ) the difference was wonderful ,with a half decent front brake the dive on braking was almost sick making the dampers stopped it and are still great 9 yrs on ,enjoy ,Bob
