Still a 389 as on the Road Rocket, but increased in bore from 1-1/8 by 1/32": woo-hoo!

and their disclaimer that this is to the best of their research is true.  when I put in my serial numbers for my 57 spitfire, it gave me the correct year and model for the engine, but the frame it calls a 58.

mine has been verified to match the despatch numbers as a 57.  just so we don't put TOO much into it (just like Rocket Man says!)

still a great resource!

It is a great website, if you personally have any brochures etc etc that are not on there, email it to them.

Cheers.

OK Snowy, I will get Shane to check that one.
He and Brian Pollett concocked that script using the despatch book records and while we did run a lot of numbers through it we did not do a 100% test ( it would have taken a full year).
It was supposed to go on both web sites but the server the BSAOC UK uses will not run "forein" scripts, so it ended up on ours.
By far the most common enquiry we got ( and still is) was to identify a bike from the engine & frame numbers and if for instance there was a "special spitfire" for sale we could get hundreds of emails from prospective purchasers who wanted to verify the bike so hence Shane rote the script and he & Brian converted the paper file ( and there is 100's of pages) into a searchable data base and I was one of the bunnies ( there were a lot of us) who ran numbers to prove the script.
Would you mind going back to the site and useing the links email me you numbers so that we can fix it ?

The catalogues were a natural follow up because the second most common enquiry is " what colour " so the site is a self help center and I get to go to bed without answering 20000 emails.

The web site is about to be redone so it would be an opertune time to fix any goofs.
And on that subject, I would appreciate any links to other sites that have factory catalogues on them so that when it gets redone we can directly link to other pages rather than filling up our space ( there is not much left) with stuff that is already up there.
