New fork seal holders ill fitting.

Having just replaced the fork seal holders and seals, they are rubbing I believe on the springs..
Is this normal?
We're purchased from a reputable dealer and they say they've never had an issue with this.
Had to grind the tool also too fit them.
Also between 35-45mph it feels like my front wheel is egg shaped. Have new tires fitted also.
Any suggestions?

You may have inadvertently twisted the yokes (triple clamps) a tad. A bit hard to see with the shrouds on but do the bars feel normal or off a bit one way?

I'd check the bead line on the tyre as well.

I've read that (most, if not all) pattern/aftermarket  seal holders don't fit the standard BSA tool, so unfortunately it's not surprising if a shop bought tool made for oem holders does not fit. I made a rough tool to do the holder  removal job from a piece of water pipe with an angle grinder, it fits both BSA original and pattern holders, albeit it fits the pattern parts better.

Hi,
Grease the springs with the stickiest grease you can find
The fork shrouds can be centeralised  to a degree by loosening the bottom yoke pinch bolts,
move the shroud to equal all round and carefully re tighten the pinchbolts

Yup your correct.  The bead line is certainly out, this is after have a shop fit the tyre for me (my excuse is no tyre irons)
Is this caused by a bad rim?

Presuming you are talking about the LH threaded spindle?
If the spindle is not tight  the wheel is not in a fixed position, it can drift to the left
  VERY RISKY 
You can find a 9/16LH tap from an older establishhed cycle shop,( they were used on pedal cranks)
to clean up the threads in the fork leg

Get the tyre reseated properly, its not a big job to get right, lazy bastard where you got it fitted

Cheers John. Has confirmed my concern.
The thread does seat in, but as it starts showing through the other side, it just spins.
Is it just a case of getting the fork leg re cut, or is the spindle knackered?
Yeah I shall be having words with the shop regarding tyre fitting..grrrrr.

Ha ha I'll get pics tomorrow.
Think I meant if the axel is harder steel than the fork cut? God don't say I need new fork legs..... this bloody a10 is having its fair share of front end issues...

Okay...update.
Managed to get the thread too bite tight now, and fitted a stainless pinch bolt with nut. Also re-seated tyre on rim and she runs a lot truer now, but still has slight "bump" think it's prob the rim that's shot. Mind you its nearly 60 years old now. 😲
