How far off the clutch cover should the A10 footrest be?

The lack of a gap is common, as is a dent in the chain case just behind the footrest after a prang  I'd suggest you make it (say) 1/4" away, but you could more than that (say 1/2") for more "safety" (eg large prang) if you are confident in bending the footrest that much (it's best to heat to dull red before bending them).

The half inch plan sounds good to me!  I have a friend with bottles and a big torch so will book Flash in for treatment - once I get the flippin' clutch working!

I think the brake pedal might also need some treatment......

My concern is that if I deck it then it will be on the LH side (too easy to ground the stand on LH bends) and if the footrest is too close it will punch a hole in the clutch cover. Having some spare movement will ease my mind....
