Cam Follower Regrind Radius?
« on: 18.12. 2016 10:31 »
I have some original cam followers that will take a re-facing, there is plenty of meat left. What is the radius? I hear it's very large, almost flat? Need to inform my grinder.

Many Thanks

Peter

G'day Peter.
1.25" radius matches my measurement as well.

After you have them ground you will need to get them hardened.

As a side note. The greater the radius (flatter) the more volume can be crammed into the cylinder. The opening and closing times remain the same.
If too much (2mm) is ground off the followers they won't drop enough to reach the cam base circle and ride on the retainers.
