Having issues starting (nothing unusual there) and noticed my plugs are old. Any recommendations for what plugs I should buy for "winter" starting?.Cheers guys.

I've never changed plugs for summer or winter so can't help with this .

G'day Paddy.
You could try a grade hotter plug. NGK go down 1 number, Champion go up 1 number.
Colder winter air leans the mixture off a bit so it might also help richening the pilot 1/4 turn.

There are no plugs "for winter starting."

Buy new plugs of the grade recommended for your bike and set the gaps to 0.018".

      Musky, maybe in the down under you still get good NGK plugs, here in the U S they are crap, 1 out of say 3 boxes is a dud.  Bosch burn better, cleaner, foul less, and go one hotter for the shi**y fuel.               Champions, (the cheapest made plugs on the planet) run well in these bikes, Bosch would be my first choice in the U S though.

I took the pilot screw out a few weeks ago to clean the carb, but didn't note how many turns it took. So that may be an issue also, because back in summer she was starting 1st-2nd kick. How do I know how to set the pilot up again? Also had a complete maggy rebuild in spring 2016.

G'day Paddy.
I have a bad habit of missing the most simple things. TT is right, throw a new set in first NGK B6HS or equivalent in your fav brand.
Pilot screw 1 1/2 turns out from seated. Get the bike to operating temp (15 minute ride), set idle then adjust the screw in till she falters then turn out (count the turns) till she falters. turn in to half way between the two. Then re-adjust the idle. This should be pretty close, you might find it needs no more than an 1/8 turn either way to get a clean transition onto the slide.
This may not be the way the "book" says but it works for me.
