a7 crank pinion
« on: 17.02. 2017 22:39 »
forgive my ignorance, but i m assembling a1960 a7 engine without the crank pinion 67 0641 but i have an a10 one with 2 dots stamped. is it safe to assume the dot to use for timing is next to the keyway and a10s are one tooth away from the keyway? i cant seem to find a photo of 67 0641 pinion.

There's a very useful item on the Cheshire BSA Club site about the difference between A7LS gears and A7 / A10 gears

thanks for both replies. i dont know why i thought the a7 valve timing was different from a10s but now i know for sure. i have looked as the cheshire bsa o.c. and impressed with tech info, but dont you just wish there was more? on my a7 engine i can move the drive side roller inner race along the shaft too easy- will locktight take care of it or will i need to heat the race first? are these ngk roller bearings cheap rubbish? the list goes on.
