head stock bearing dust cover
« on: 26.03. 2017 19:36 »
I am fitting tapered rollers from SRM to the headstock.

I dont have the dust cover that is shown for the top bearing (just another of about a million missing little parts).

Anyway, I was wondering if the stock dust cover fits this set up or if ordering one would be a waste of time?

I also did not see one for the bottom on the parts diagram. I have not mocked the forks up yet to see if puke can get in the bottom bearing from underneath or if this is not a concern on our headstocks.

 Anybody know about this?

When I carried out this mod I'm sure I refitted the original dust cover. I don't recall a bottom cover.

Hi Lee,
The taper bearings use the standard top cover
I made a two piece bottom bearing cover from some black nylon/delrin
it was a long time ago, one sleeve fits over the outside of the headstock protruding further down
an inner ring fits inside and sits on the bottom yoke

It has worked for me ??

Thank you guys, I will look around for a dust cover.

John, I may have to go that route. The biggest hurdle is I only have white Nylon for plastic stock. I will call some friends and hopefully someone has something black black laying around.
