Yet another plunger A10 question (frame brackets)

I am rebuilding my plunger A10 after about 35 years of it leaning in the garage

It is supposedly 1957 according to the log book altho according to the frame number it was produced in 56.

My question is halfway up the rear frame there should be a bracket either side. The bolt pointing up is for the single saddle and the bolt going thru sideways appears to go straight into the side of the mudguard.

Mine does not and never has had these two brackets.

Did they change this layout does anybody know? If so what about those two side mudguard fixings?

I cant see any sign of the brackets having been removed if they were somebody has done a right good job of removing them.

Its no big deal I can make a bracket that bolts where the old regulator box used to go but I am curious.

I have owned the bike since 1975 ish so I suppose its possible the previous owner hacksawed them off but I do find this unlikely

I am on about the bracket with the horn on it that also supports the handle to get it on the centre stand

Thanks every picture I have seen shows those brackets except mine.

Shame I had already had it powder coated before I noticed but I would have expected some sort of marks if they had ever been removed yet the tubes are totally unblemished

 Yours is probably made in '56 for '57 mine has all the lugs in question for those purposes- can't imagine why anyone'd cut them off 😈

 I wish I had a plunger or a ridged  A10, even if it was missing a bracket..

 Maybe the next bike...

 They seem to be much harder to find over here.

I know this isn't going to help, but mine's a '57 and has the saddle lugs fitted.

I never had a detailed look at mine but if they are brazed on, I guess it would be possible to get them off without leaving traces?

There's some people that go through a lot of trouble trying to save weight thinking they'll gain 30 mph top speed at least. The rear sprocket and rear brake arm on my SA have been (badly) drilled by one of those idiots. 
Must be the mechanical equivalent of go-faster stripes...

Remind me to post pictures of my original cylinder head. They must have drilled 50 holes down through the fins.

 The 2 ounces of metal they removed made the head run hotter and years latter cost me extra money

 The only good thing was they never got to the barrels.

My log book says 57 but the frame number is BA7S 194** which leads me to believe that it was made in 56 but sold and registered in 57.

I got it in 74 ish and it was bog standard with a sidecar so I have no reason to believe a boy racer had owned it (until I got it of course  )

The lugs must have been removed I guess because I cant find a pic or a drawing of an A10 without them.

Shame I never noticed it before the powder coating but I can get round it without too much drama.

Oh well it was never going to be totally standard anyway and I always intended to have a dual seat on it
