What about a forum emergency email address?
« on: 12.09. 2017 15:51 »
I had an idea!  *bright idea* How about an emergency email address for this forum. The purpose of this would be to allow members partners let the forum, (admin I suppose) know that their 'significant other' cannot post for some, possibly terminal reason. If, for instance I were to drop dead  :P my wifey would not know how to sign on to this forum to let you know; a simple email address in her Contacts would simplify things. It might be best if the address contained the string 'emergency' so it's obvious that it's only to be used for exceptional contact. Wotjerfink?

Well, yes, at some point. Aren't you?

If you look at older posts to this forum there are many names that are no longer posting. Of course there are many possible reasons for this but one of them may be that the member has gone to the great BSA factory in the sky.

Hello, have dropped dead several times, but higher powers made me come back (for the moment :O)

What about instructing relatives \ friends to use the contact form in the main menu?

As anyone could claim anything about anyone (xxx gone to find the Holy Grail and the Loch Ness monster, and also abducted by aliens who did a sex change operation, never to be seen again and no traces, please give me all credentials and passwords etc) so up to the message receiver (forum admin) to check if it's a legit message\situation, sender ip and other info may prove it's a legit source or not.

^^^ that's strange, I see it in any kind of browser on any kind of pc.

Anyone else not seeing the contact link in the menu ? (see attachment)

EDIT: Figured it out  *good3*
When logged-in the contact button is 'hidden' for all members (logged-in members got PM for any contact with admin or moderator). So test again after log out, as guest the button will be there, and the link above will work. Please confirm.

G'day e and GB.
That worked for me once logged out.
A few years ago I had the problem of contacting two forums (Ducati Owners and FJ Yam owners) to let them know of the death of a member. I had to join the forums which took a couple of days. So many members missed the funeral.
If I fell off the perch tomorrow the wife would know to contact here as she reccons I spend more time here than in bed with her! Nearly true!
Cheers

Yeh, OK, I guess that works but it still depends on someone who is only slightly tech savie knowing the URL for the forum. I will have to make her a shortcut icon.
