Oil System Q2: Adding an Oil Pressure Gauge
« on: 05.11. 2017 08:18 »
Question 2:

What is the best way of adding an oil pressure gauge, preferably electronic? What type of gauge, what type of sensor, where/how to fit the sensor? I'd feel a lot more comfortable that I knew what was going on inside with a gauge.

Thanks - Rowan

G'day RB.
Some will say it's just another thing to worry about. If the motor is rebuilt there shouldn't be any problems.
I say better to know and stop any disasters. Saved me a few blow ups on the track.

Doubt if you'll fit an electronic sensor anywhere.

Why do you say this? Why is it more difficult to fit an electronic sensor than a pressure take-off? If the sensor itself is too big, it can always go on a short bit of pipe, surely?

Thanks - Rowan

G'day Rowan.
Yes it could be fitted with a few more fittings. Needs 12 volts (haven't seen a 6 volt). Mechanical a lot cheaper.

When I do my plunger it will be as orabanda's (same link bottom of page).
