Air cleaner mounting swingarm
« on: 05.11. 2017 17:55 »
I bought an original air cleaner for my 1958 flash, its still in transit.

The ski slope I have is a repop.

I really dont have any literature that clearly shows or explains the mounting of the air cleaner.

I believe my ski slope should have a stud mounted (which it currently does not have) for the bottom tab of the air cleaner.

Does the top of the air cleaner mount to the battery strap somehow, or is there some kind of bracket I am missing for the top tab? *conf*

Lee, there should be a boss on both the ski slope and the front strap of the battery box. Tapped 2BA.

Thanks Trev,

Neither my battery strap or my ski slope have a boss.

I imagine either I have the same two sides on my battery strap (both sides without the boss) or I have one from when a pancake filter was fitted and no boss was needed.

At least I know this before I cleaned up the battery straps and trunions.

It's probably worth you fabricating your own boss on the battery strap, the strap I bought from Draganfly had a boss badly tacked on, and hence badly aligned, with the resultant burnt and damaged paint left untouched up  *conf*

Thats exactly what I am going to do here, I will fix the ski slope.

I am going to look around for the strap with the boss.

Between the rubber for the air cleaner and the strap boss I should be able to line up the ski slope boss really well.
