Loctite for retaining the sludge trap cover screw

Is it satisfactory to use Loctite to retain the sludge trap cover screw in the crankshaft without centre-punching the edge of the screw? What grade of loctite is suitable to withstand the oil and the temperature? Obviously this has to be secure, because the consequences of it coming out don't bear thinking about.

 I was recommended to use the one for hydraulic lines- is green but don't have it at hand for the number...I think the one I used is a Selleys product can dig it out later.

 I like to think it's working fine after 10K miles....

No No No No No.
You grind the old center punching out of the plug, NOT THE FLYWHEEL.
You then repunch the plug at the same place as the old punching towards the flywheel so the metal on the plug is moved into the hole in the flywheel.
And if you decide to go with the hex headed plug you must get the flywheel rebalanced a the new style plug s only 1/3 the weight of the old one.

Loctite was never used on the bikes when new and it is not needed now when they are old.
Same applies for silicon.

Loctite will be fine.

BSA manual actually recommended it for the A65, see below. No doubt they would have recommended it for A10 had it been available at the time.

Have loctited the plugs in my A10 for many many years with no problems whatsoever.

I also have the sludge trap secured by Loctite ,hex headed plug ,was done by SRM when the sorted the crankshaft  for me 11 yrs ago.No probs so far !

imo, the (correct) loctite will be fine (used it on my bike) ...then added a few (very small) psychological punches for peace of mind :0)
