Throttle twistgrip
« on: 30.11. 2017 17:49 »
Any recommendations (or otherwise) for a new throttle twistgrip for a Golden Flash.

The sprung plate inside that is tensioned by the grub screw had disintegrated on mine and the grub screw kindly gouged and messed up the groove that the cable runs in so it'll have to be replaced.

I believe some that are advertised are pretty poor quality. Are there any being advertised that I should definitely avoid?

And ... Does anybody have any experience with the ones that are advertised as original Doherty D71s?  If so, is the quality ok? I don't necessarily want cheap as I know that's what you get.

Thanks.

Google Amal Type 16, very nice indeed. Not cheap but I am getting one.

Thanks for your quick response A10 JWO. I agree it looks a lovely twistgrip. I could only find two sellers who have them in stock £65.00 + pp - even Amal are out of stock at the moment.

Update: Bought their last Amal Type 16 they had in stock from Surrey Cycles in Crawley Downs today.

Expensive but looks to be be beautifully made and my thoughts are: If we don't support our quality manufacturers they will eventually stop making parts for our bikes or go out of business and then we'll have no choice but to buy the crap imports.
