Having virtually given up on finding a original or decent re-manufactured hinged rear guard to suit my 1950 Rigid A7, I'm considering adapting a plunger guard. So could any of the forum users be able to post a decent close up photo showing how the mounting bracket for the hooped stay/handle fits around the upper plate of the hinge, this would be the underside of the guard just in front of the joint.
Or unless, as a second part to my plea, anyone knows of a source for a decent and accurate version of a Rigid rear guard, ie, not some of the 'B' series stuff currently coming out of India.
I would have thought it a fairly simple thing to achieve as the main pressing seems to start the same as a plunger version and only differs in some of the mounting details. Any lead much appreciated. Thanks. Peter

I have not looked lately, but I would *THINK* some one in India is making them, I know from looking previously I saw some but they make stuff for some pretty obscure applications,  I need the same info for my Rigid A10 project as well as 2 rigid BSA Singles so had planned to look into this,  I just dont have the cash right now to buy them yet.   I have saved a bunch of pictures of rigid singles and twins from online auctions for reference,  There has been some nice original bikes over the last year or 2, But clearly this list would have the pictures needed.

What about these?  Price wise seem reasonable (Free shipping) and even if not quite right, based on rarity and price I wouldnt mind a bit of fettling to make them right,, Better than not availible at all...

Richard.  Many Thanks for posting the photos. they will be a great help.  If an opportunity presents itself to take a shot showing the inside of the guard around the top of the hinge, that would be nice but don't worry about dropping the wheel out just for the photo, I'm sure it can wait.  Best Regards,  Pete

Interesting that BSA had sissy bars as stock item  *smile*

Richards one looks like just a bit of flat bar/strap with kinks where it wraps past the exit from the guard

Probably not much help, but I made a similar one for my previous life front guard (same guard, different front end) shouldn't be too hard... If I can find it, I'll add a picture.
