Just to be pedantic people refer to tides  going in and out when in fact they rise and fall, also if you are in a boat say a mile offshore if you are drifting south then that is a flood tide if you are drifting north then that is an ebb tide.

When I was serving in the Far East a Malaysian friend always amused me when he referred to British pounds as Quids - so he would say something like 'It cost two quids'.

Ha - took me a minute or two to translate, I've no relatives in your part of the UK but have many in the Midlands including Stoke and recall uncles speaking similar, love accents (well maybe not Rees Mogg)

hi guys, over here the kiwi was never taught what the plural of the female species was, they refer to `a woman`or a group of `women` as woman, it sounds so weird when you here that there were a group of woman waiting or anything similar that refers to more than one`woman` cheers
