AFAIK it is not a BSA part.
Looks very home made particularly the wing on the B.

I think the badge is from an A7 Star twin 1951 or 1952.

See the photos below which are from the 1951/52 parts book, showing the badge attached to tank with screws.

Here is a shot in the dark, That badge looks much earlier than the 50s to me. Its has the look of pride, as opposed to "pretty but mass produced". Just like automotive hood ornaments from the 1920s to the end in the early 70s were very different in quality appearance.

If I was guessing, I am going 1925 to 1935. Or as mentioned someone did a beautiful job in art class.

The star is the Imperial   Star and was very common.I got bikes back to 1926 and none of them have that style of star with major & minor points.
The first BSA to carry a star on the tank was the Empire Star . Again it has 8 single points with an oval BSA in the center and was a decal
Tank badges were introduced in the 1940 catalogue and were a plain oval shape with BSA in plain upright letters.
The winged B was introduced post WWII and is the quick way to tell pre WW II & WW II timing covers from post WWII timing covers, the former having a plain BSA while the latter had the wing
The first tank badges to have the winged B were just the letters BSA cast in white metal and fitted to the C range very similar to the BSA from the 1971 twins except it was 2" long.

There was a Star used on BSA cars but I don't have enough catalogues to make a comment one way or the other but again all the stars that I do have from the car range are the same stars as the empire star logo.
From memory there was a winged BSA as a hood ornament but I can not place it right now.

So 99.999% chance it is a unique had made piece of history but not out of the BSA factory
