20w/50 oil
« on: 04.01. 2018 13:31 »

Sorry to bring this up again but I saw an ad on EBay for some 20w/50 classic high zinc oil. I was wondering if anybody had heard of it or actually used it in there bikes.

RYE OIL   High Zinc 20w/50 Classic Vintage Engine Oil 25 Litre 25L
Mineral oil API SF/CC/CD, MIL 2104B

The price is £55 delivered so the price is good but wondered if the oil was.    *conf2*

I don't know why no one has answered your question. My comment was jokingly referring to the huge white space at the bottom of your post. I think you may have leant on the Return key. Why don't you go back to your message and edit that space out. I'll delete my silly comment. Maybe you'll get some sensible replies.

Never heard of "Rye".

Maybe nobody else has and that is the reason for no response?

They do have a website just type RYE OIL into google they are quite a large company and sell all kinds of oils etc, but seem to deal mainly with industry and agriculture selling oils in 25 litre containers.

I've used Halfords 20/50 for older engines without any problems at £20.00 for 5 litres

My smartass comment for the day- There's no such thing as mineral oil. Minerals are by definition inorganic. Petroleum based oils are organic. Sorry, that's just what happens with a geologist in the room!

Just like bsa-bill I have been using Halfords Classic 20w/50w for quite some years now without any problems, in fact I will be popping down to the local Halfords to get another can soon as I will be doing the annual oil changes on both the A7 and the A65 soon.
