''Hard Enduro'' my ass.  That was a high speed Observed Trials.  I don't think the rider was ever passed.  Amazing riding skills.  If I tried that race on my Greeves Griffon, I would still be in the hospital.

Yep I'd still be on the first lap on the old XT500. He started lapping others on the 2nd lap. Getting tired at the end and nearly dropped it approaching the finish. https://www.grahamjarvis.org/ other good clips on youtube.

That track looks hard enough without throwing in those log and tire crossings. Doubt that I could get around it on my XT500 or XT600 without busting some body parts (mine).

Correct answer Kickaha  *good3*. Now we need a few donor bikes.
My old 51 A7 was my "trail" bike in the 90's. Towed a mate & his misses on a TT600 about 5 miles of knarley tracks. Only needed a push on one hill. Still had road tyres and my blue heeler rode on the tank.

Moving swiftly sideways. I’m using a Morini Camel for my off-road forays at the moment, but there are aspects of the bike I’m not liking. So I’m thinking of swapping it out, but would prefer to at least continue with something interesting. How sensible is an XT500 for off road work?

G'day cyclobutch.
Depends on how OFF road you want. I would have thought your Camel would go anywhere an XT of the same vintage would go.
I would be battling on my 76 C model with 7" & 5" suspension to get around that track in an hour compared to Graham's 16 minutes.

Thanks for that. The Camel actually seems to be fairly capable on the rough stuff, it just has other attributes that I'm struggling with enough that I'm casting my eyes elsewhere.

I thought about converting mine to do a few trail rides, I do them on my RMX250 but am confident I could get an A10 Scrambler around the same tracks
