A10 correct headlamp Mount
« on: 09.03. 2018 17:57 »
Hi,

Is there anyone else with a black Golden Flash 1952 plunger A10, who can tell me/photo what the correct headlamp assembly and headlamp mounts look like?  I am at Kempton tomorrow and hoping to find originals.

Many thanks,
Jonathan

Here is my '55 machine. It has the so called Cowpat headlamp cowl. I don't know when they went to that design.

This is a 1951 A7. Your Flash should be the same set up. The Star Twin A7 is original.

A bit tricky that one.
It is known that a new model year started after summer holidays so a bike made after August 1951 would then be a '52 model
My plunger is a genuine 1952 model but a very late one with frame number ZA7S35xxx first registered July 1952 but with the cowpat headlight. The books say that the cowpat headlights were introduced from the 1953 model year, but my guess is that the factory already started mounting the cowpat headlamps at the end of the '52 model year.
Before the cowpat came in, it had the fork lugs with headlamp clamped between them

I still lean towards the earlier shrouds with ears. Mates 52 ST has them as does my 51. As morris said cowpat for 53. https://www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/bsa/bsa/a710--b3133--c101112--m202133/category/938-938-
