Crankcases which set?
« on: 03.07. 2009 19:13 »
Hi chaps,

Im just trying to decide which set of cases to base my motor on.
I have a 1960 DA10 set a 1954 CA10 set and a 1960 DA10A set.
Apart from basic condition which I will have to examine and decide on myself ,are any of the three intrinsically better?
Are the set with a A suffix, alternator ones and if so will they still be ok with normal set up ie. no alternator? They look the same.
Any other tips on crankcase choosing and examining welcome.

Cheers Spyke.

HI Spyke,
As far as I know, the alternator cases are different!
What you have are (C) A10 early and (D)A10 later
C or D, A10R cases are from Road and Super Rockets

they did make alternator A10s, my flash was one.. ex police, it had the dynamo & the alternator!!
the crank cases are the same  ,   its the outer primary case that is different ( deeper to accommodate the alternator)
hope this helps
