Amal Mark 2 2930
« on: 28.03. 2018 17:51 »
I have been given a NOS Mark 2 Amal Concentric. Never used one before. Are they better than the predecessors, any tuning issues please and do the older throttle cables fit these. Thanks.

I'm interested in this too. I have been using worn distorted Mk1, but I have a used Mk2 and a used Mikuni (both of which I think are off 2-strokes), I'm thinking of trying one or both of those on the SR. (I know the 'spray tube' is different for smokers, but still, might be worth a try ?)
The Mk2's on my Bonnie work very well, no risk of body distortion like the Mk1.
Having just sold my nice ol' RZ, I might just consider shelling out for a new carb for the SR. I know there will be (and have been) plenty of opinions on this, but always room for more.

Had a pair on a 750 Bonneville and one on a Rotax Armstrong - all fitted as std. Hateful devices. My least favorite carburetor ever. Awful to tune, very susceptible to any kind of air leak anywhere, and the slides stick in the wet. Swapped out the one on the Rotax for a Mikuni - infinitely better.

I spoke to Hitchcocks about these and they can be re jetted for 4 strokes. They can supply the correct jets as well.

G'day Jools.
Yes I have two 30mm's on my Cafe A10RR+. The idle screw can be put on either side but the air screw is a prick to get to on one.
Of coarse running no air filter and straight through pipes it took me quite a while to dial them in (still not 100%). Had to change everything pilot, slide, needle (5 times) and mains.  *pull hair out*
But for a std A10 would be close straight out'a da box.
Cheers

I have one of those PWK 30 mm carbs on my SX200. No issues apart from fiddly to get the float chamber on and off and the gasket can get trapped.
