A65 Replacement silencers
« on: 26.04. 2018 09:48 »
Looking to get some replacement silencers for an A65. Looking on e-bay a pair can be had for around the £120 mark inc the postage.

Looking on the Armours site they are around the £170 mark plus £15 postage.

Question is are the Armour ones worth paying the extra for? Most, if not all, the bay ones will be foreign/overseas made ones whereas the Armour ones will be UK made and supplied.

Anyone had experience of either on any of their bikes?

Thanks

Andy

I have original stamped Campbells on the Flash, been on since I bought it in 1997/8  and well before possibly, still good, I also have a set of similar not stamped and made in UK at the same factory (I was told) and the shape of them and quality is as good I would say, although thet have not been on a bike for too long (bought as replacement for the Campbells but not need yet).
I also have a set of Goldie mega type , quality not quite as good I'd say.
I think A65 were similar in shape to mine ???

I'd have a good look at the cheaper ones (look for shape, and weld quality to compare to  Campbells should look like the ones below, can't recall where I got mine , these are Burton Bike Bits with  whom I have no connection, other suppliers are available as they say
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

I purchased both silencer and exhaust pipes for my Super Rocket in 2012, went for s/steel option and still very pleased with fit and finish.
The finish looks like polished chrome
One of there silencer brackets fractured a couple of years ago and has been replaced by a thicker grade version from another supplier.
I think the problem we have these days is we do not look before we buy and certainly would not have done many years ago before sorting through your local dealers stock.

I wouldn't even pay less for the Armours ones.

I fitted a complete new Armour Set today. Went straight on no issues at all, lovely finish. What do wise men say, buy cheap, buy twice.

I have Feked siamesed pipes and muffler on the Super Rocket and would like to recommend them as a good supplier of exhausts. 9/10 score
I bought Long Stroke engine pipes from Grumpy at Modak so that i could take in samples.  10/10 score

I am after a set for the a10 I have looked at the armours website and can only see goldie and plunger style stainless steel silencers and Siamese headers using there drop down menu.  I cannot find the style shown in the photo by bsa-bill or standard headers. Can anyone point me in the right direction? To those who have stainless pipes are they of that style and where from?
I bought some chrome supposedly uk made ones and were amazed how quickily they pitted

Any help much appreciated

Hi Alex.
I have Armours s/steel exhausts and silencers and very pleased with fit and appearance.
They were ordered over the phone from there product catalogue dated 2011/12.
Just looked at website and not sure it's complete, could be early days.

Thanks very much Billybream. I have been meaning to ring them to find out. Would be surprised if they didn’t do them.  I will be investing in a set.
