Unique Oil Filtration System

The full flow of oil is passed through oil filter paper.  If you are worried about the micron rating, go and find out what it is, then come back in the light of that knowledge and advise us about the problems you think users will have.

It looks like the same well-tried small element used on late Unit singles, Tridents and some Enfields.  People are using it and having no problems.

I’m probably happier with my old Unity Equipe bracket with a BMC Mini spin-on filter.  It’s reassuringly big in relation to oil flow. That doesn’t mean I’m in any position to condemn the “Unique.”

The oil filtation system BSA used is quite complex and fairly well state of the art in the day.
there are 2 screens to protect the pump, a full flow centrigugal filter to protect the big ends and a setteling tank to allow contaminants to aglomerate and settle out.

Pre-swing arm models even had a return filter in the tank. 

That feature was dropped: it must have made the oil too clean.

Well, yes you're right, I suppose it is a bit of a joke. I rode a 1960 GF as my daily transport mid 60s to mid 70s (the one with my girlfriend (now my wife) sitting on it in my profile picture) and it never let me down travelling hundreds of miles almost every weekend from the barracks where I was stationed in Portsmouth to my home in Plymouth and then back again overnight on Sunday. What I was intending to  refer to was a replaceable filter that was easy to get at.

Went for a good ride today to test my newly fitted remote filter - no leaks  and my engine didn't seize or even start knocking!
