What's this Invention Then ??
« on: 01.06. 2018 20:19 »
*????*. Ay Up folk's, I recently bought an A10 Gearbox as a spare , as one does when you are old, 70 and need to collect things !  *eek*, especially getting hard to acquire decent spares and when I received it I was confused as to the purpose of the Screw thingy inserted into the front inspection cover, pictures attached. There were no pictures of it in the listing but I have since got in touch with the seller and he has no clue either as to the purpose of it apart from thinking something to do with the Clutch Rod adjustment, but it is not in line with the adjuster screw  *????*. All seems a bit strange as it also has an hole through the middle of it. Not too worried about it as I can get another inspection cover and the Gearbox is in good nick. Just bloomin curious.

I believe that's the point where you attach the hook for lifting the bike.

Most probably some sort of home brewed breather.
In the old days they were a popular addition to most casings that contained oil.
