Genuine Smiths Rev Counter
« on: 07.06. 2018 15:52 »
My rev counter has not been used for many years. I have just fitted it with a new cable that appears to fit correctly both ends. I have done a mile on this restoration and it is dancing about all over the place. Can they be serviced like a speedo, thanks.

Chronometrics UK have done a couple for me. So 'yes' to your question.
You may find that a clean and re-lube is all that's needed. Something many on this forum see as a DIY job.

Thanks Terry. My glass and rim are crimped on, something I can't do myself. Will give them a call.

If they are crimped on, it will be a magnetic instrument, not a chronometric. Look for a different reconditioner.

Hi
If the cable inner is too long it can cause problems
loosen off the nut and see if it makes a difference

ive got a 3 to 1 magnetic on mine and I have to use at least 2 fibre washers where it fastens to the rev counter , otherwise it knackers them up at much cost

I heard it worth every pound.

On chronometric the cable should not more than 7/16 pluged in.

If you think, everything is under control, you are not fast enought.
