duTch's Cush drive & related links
« on: 12.06. 2018 11:42 »
As a follow up to bergers post earlier today, rather than load it up with stuff I'm making an attempt to consolidate a single splattered topic into one place; In my case it all relates to a broken spring.....I think.... *conf2*
Links were compiled into a email draft and copy and pasted, so bear with me while I do my best to take some hyper-juice and make them hyper-live (went to see Han Solo with the youngsta the other day, so have all the lingo  *smile*)

** note this is for Plunger Cush springs 67-2062

Friggin' 'eck...I now realise the above post is a bit vague, so it came about because my Cush-spring broke in Feb'14, and I ordered a new one, but the 'new' one was not what I ordered  (67-2062), and was sent a spring 1/2 turn short, and short in length and bigger diameter, which all makes for a soggy mess....
thought I said this may turn a bit messy, but I didn't-and it did....so a quick redress to the saga.... today I pulled the primary cover to address the dodgy replacement spring...decided to weld the original together and see how it compares to the replacement....the replacement has shrunk even more from the pissant 43mm long to 38mm one side and 40mm the other side...was 1/2 turn short to boot and ~45mmID...the original was/is ~46mm long and ~42mm ID big difference I say....

I started to read the links I posted, but  *eek*...nah, but I will say that I did the 'Cush drive Nut-Easy on/Easy off' method, and it was so easy I'll drown in my dreams tonight...even though the big-nut wasn't super-tight to undo, the washer I have under the split pin was free to spin, not against the s/pin....and it torqued up to 65ft/lb too easy (I'm suspicious), but checked with two different T/wrenches...

The bottom line of this saga is for Plunger owners needing replacement Cush-Springs, is to stress the specs of what you need, because suppliers will send what they want you to have, not what you need (there's two different cush-springs, and Swing arm ones don't do the job)

 ...probably to be continued....
