GB is happy!
« on: 16.06. 2018 15:46 »
I've been for a ride to Cirencester and back, (on The Fosse Way; one of the things the Romans did for us) with  a stop for lunch at a pub. That's a round trip of 100 miles. The bike runs beautifully. I didn't exceed 50mph and didn't load the engine. The oil tank remained comfortably hot to the touch whenever I stopped to check things.

Before the recent work the engine was very noisy when hot, it sounded like a bag of old nails! I was ashamed when I would arrive at a club meeting, so would hit the stop button as quickly as possible! Now though, the engine sounds like a new one. The dynamo belt conversion must be contributing to the improvement.

The exhaust note has a real snap, presumably due to the sporty camshaft.

Although I was being careful I could tell that the engine was ready to go if I were to give her some gas!

I will investigate the oddness about the inlet tappets but not just yet.

Anyway, GB is a very happy bunny at the moment. Thank you all for getting me through the recent ordeals

Fantastic!
And thanks for sharing not only the highs but also your very low times with such humour, especially 'Does anybody want an old motorbike? It's just out there near the bins; help yourself!'
I take it that offer has now been withdrawn  *sad2* ?
