BSAOC South Wales weekend?
« on: 24.06. 2018 14:45 »
I'm planning to ride down to (Old) South Wales next weekend to attend their BSAOC weekend. My route is 180 miles each way. There will be a ride-out on Saturday, so I'll likely be adding 400 miles to the running in regime over the weekend. I'm staying at a B&B, not camping, for a change, so I'll be able to travel light.

I'm looking forward to that part of the route known as The Heads of the Valley's Road. I drove it many years ago and remember fabulous scenery and sweeping mountain roads.

Is there anyone here that will be attending this meeting?

Don't over do it GB after all the work you've put in. I hope you have a good and safe weekend and don't forget to pack your sun cream.  *wink2*

Do you mean the bike or me? As far as the bike goes; nice long runs are good for running-in an engine.
As for me; the 180 mile rides will need to be broken up with frequent rests for my backside to recover and toilet breaks!

Good one GB. Take all the backroads you can, avoid freeways and constant speeds. She'll be well and truly run in after that ride.
Cheers

I am back! The bike did a total of 375 miles. I didn't pamper her too much but did not push past 70mph.

Saturday we rode down to Pendine Sands, where American style Hot Rods were doing this: http://www.vhra.co.uk/VHRA/Pendine_Sands.html

Sunday we rode to Swansea where there was a flying display just off the beach. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/best-pictures-day-one-swansea-14850176
Unfortunately, South Wales was the only area of Britain to have rain since early June!! https://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/swansea-airshow-crowds-run-cover-14851983
One outstanding aircraft that was flying was a P51 Mustang, that, I was told, had the later Rolls Royce Merlin engine, with dual superchargers. Among my photos, there is a poor quality video file but the sound is good.

My lodgings were good. I had dinner with a friend, (and her two children), for the first time, that I met on a chat group on the Internet 17 years ago!

I've dumped all my photos here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xn5jh7z87iarmdf/AAD3O9VoloNfmYDmQfb6ddMya?dl=0
Apologies for the very poor video quality. It's an old camera.
