K2F 42380 and 42413 right and left hand

Lucas lists shows the 1959 - 1960 Shooting Star and Super Rocket as being fitted with K2F 42380 fixed and described as right hand.

For 1961 on it shows a change of mag to K2F 42413 fixed and described as left hand. Also fitted to RGS.

Both mags anticlockwise slack wire advance and look as far as I can see the same.

A bit confusing, those descriptions!

Normal descriptors are 'anti-clock' and 'clock', ' Spring right hand' or 'Spring left hand' for manual camrings - and 'fixed' for mags designed for use with ATDs. Counter-intuitive to see handedness and fixed in the same phrase  . . .

Right hand (usually!) means the cable comes into the camring housing from the rh side looking from the cb end (and Left hand the lh side).

The side of entry affects whether a mag is slack or tight advance:
Left hand, anti-clock drive, and right hand, clockwise drive give slack cable advance.
RH AC/W or LH C/W mean tight advance.

Some of the later K2FS had  camring housing castings with blank bits, which weren't drilled and tapped for AR cable fitment, although they could have been, still can be. Those blank bits came on either side  . . . so I wonder if that's how the words 'fixed' and 'side' can get into the same phrase. Not sure!

Yup. All the guts are the same where the direction of rotation is the same.
But the camring, to be a common part on right or left hand mags, would have to have notches pre-cut both sides for the cable plunger to engage.
The camring housing obviously has a different screw fixing pattern for rh and lh:  the mag body might or might not have holes tapped to suit either fitment, not sure with those particular versions.
