1958 Super Rocket Centre Stand
« on: 16.07. 2018 05:13 »
Just begining to realize that there is a reason my Super Rocket  (now in tiny pieces) did not come with a main stand. This one year apparently had a singular and rather unsuccessful fabricated model. I wonder if there is anyone out there who still has one of these in working condition and could perhaps post a photo of it so I could see if I might be able to fabricate one myself?

What I have done with the '58 frames is fit the later cast stands. There is one small problem, though, the spring attachment is on the left side instead of the right.
Not hard to modify the stand.
Either make a new attachment or move the kick leg, the stand fits either way.

That does make sense, I had a fabricated stand on an early Redditch RE Bullet which was a total pain even with a relatively light bike. Getting a cast one in NZ though is proving to be a bit tricky so far.

The factory did make a replacement stand with spring anchors on both legs, to suit both the 1958/59 and 1960 on models. Meant the dealers did not need to keep one of each spare in stock.

Photo is a new old stock stand.

No thanks all sorted now. I bought one from Burtons and modified it so the spring wasmon the other side. :)
