Front mudguard stay/bracket
« on: 05.08. 2018 19:47 »
Errr, following other posts, has anyone got a front mudguard stay and/or bracket they want to sell.  Will try to get the others welded/brazed and reuse, but not sure if that'll do the trick.  Some ebay sellers are asking a lot for s/h but Draganfly seem to be selling the brackets for 10.00 GBP each which isn't bad.  The lower stay does seem expensive.  I also have a crack in the rear r/h arrowhead but I thing I can sort that.  Thanks in advance.

As noted on that thread; I gave up on the proper tube stays with the flattened ends – they just kept breaking. I just made some up, but then my bike is only a bitza anyway.

Abandoned the kids and spent the day on the bike.  Had a bit of a brainwave when thinking how I could fix the bottom stay.  I remembered a bracket I used to have from my dad's hoard of bits, and ended up putting the bit from a gate bolt that the bolt slides into around the stay.  Drilled two 6mm holes for the bolts and on it went.  I even had enough room to put a piece of rubber round the inside of the bracket to reduce vibration a bit.  Clever me huh  *bright idea* *good3*

We have a few fender stays here, Original NOS and used. Is this the style you are after?

or are you after the flat bracket style?

G'day Mike.  Mine's the flat ended one that bolts to the lower fork leg and to the mudguard with a single, open-ended bracket - it was this bracket that sheared off.  I reckon I could get it brazed/welded, but my 'mod' should work better, especially with the rubber insert.

I also sheared one of the 'Y' shaped brackets on the upper lower leg!!  Snapped right in half.  Again, not sure about brazing/welding but have ordered one from Draganfly for about 13.00 GBP (decent price for a new one).
