I got back from the BSAOC Hampshire camp this afternoon. I won a Best Bike trophy! The criterion was 'the bike a visitor to the site would most like to take home'. As it's six years since I restored the machine I was quite surprised to receive the award.
Saturdays ride out was marred by a chap coming off his lovely '53 Plunger A10. He went into a very tight bend a bit too fast and slid across gravel and grass, coming to a stop in a hedge. I almost followed suite! He has cracked a couple of bones in his left hand. The bike needs handlebars, a new timing side exhaust header, a repair to the front mudguard, footpeg and foot brake pedal bending straight. He was lucky that the petrol tank and engine cases were not damaged.
Here is the Best Bike award. It is made of top kwality, (with a capital K!) resin. Looks great on the window sill behind my computer!
I forgot to carry a device that takes pictures. Sorry.
