Hello
« on: 09.08. 2018 22:16 »
Hi to everyone. Am announcing my presence as i have been ghost reading your posts for about 12 months and it's time to come out of the shadows. My knowledge is minimal so there will be lots of questions but little advice. I have owned my bitsa since 1987,1955 engine in a 1958 frame. she has been offline for 19 years until last year (2017). Look forward to chipping in with some wit when able. be warned i am computer tech disabled so things will probably go wrong or miss post etc. Have signed up for the DGR and put my face on the forum team before registering and hope that is not bad form.

The bike looks cool. I think maybe it is the slightly rakish angle of the number plate mounting. Nice.

Welcome aboard BigJim.... Nice bike pic but I was trying to work out where the pier was in the background... a quick google when you mentioned Bristol showed that it could be Clevedon, correct?

Are the gentlemen in blue still a bit over zealous regarding motorcycling? When I lived there, scarce a week went by without me being stopped on some pretext. Even when I visited more recently, guess what? I got the "Just a routine stop sir" routine and was then followed until I crossed the county line.

Hi Jamie, my A10 GF was dispatched to S.J. Fair of Bristol on 7-1-1960 (was taken over by Fowlers in 1964).

(Edit): Following on from Black Sheep's story. Some years ago, riding a BSA C15 to work one morning I was stopped by a policewoman while at a junction. She asked me if it was my motorcycle. When I replied 'Yes' she looked at me with a smug look and said 'Well what's the registration number'.   *idea* So I looked over the handlebars at my registration plate on the front mudguard and read it out to her  *smile*.

Yes LJ the pier is indeed Clevedon. Nice place to stop for coffee on way to Weston super mare bike night. Re Black Sheep's gentlemen in blue wearing hats, they sadly (joke) seem to be a bit thin on the ground since austerity kicked in. They too busy elsewhere.

Lets hope they are hunting down the little scrotes that recently stole and then torched a classic Triumph, (in the Bristol area, I think).
