Transfers/decals
« on: 15.08. 2018 21:22 »
There must be posts about this but I can't find them.
I would like a list of the transfers as used on a 1951 A7, if anyone knows off-hand what they would be.
I would also like to know the rear chain length please.

Chain length should be in your handbook.

You never quite know what sprockets the PO has fitted without stripping and counting the teeth - bit awkward on the gearbox end. What I usually do is remove the chain (attach and old chain to it and leave it on to pull the new chain in). Then I count the links and have an extra half link put in because you never quite know how much the old chain has stretched. You can then either remove the half link or remove a full link to suit.
Sorry if I am trying to teach you to suck eggs but there is nothing worse than buying a new chain and then finding it is too short. The extra half link only adds coppers to the price.
I always use the chain man - good quality Iwis chains.

The question about the chain was an afterthought. I was going to Armours to pick up a complete new stainless exhaust system for the A7 then call in to Ray Fisher's Brit Bits on the way home to pick up a chain.

Rather than just ask for a "chain for an A7 please" I would've been able to ask for the actual length as some chains used to come on a roll and be cut to length. Didn't matter in the event as the boxed chain had more than enough links anyway.
Still hoping for some transfers info though.

{Exhaust system fitted like a dream I'm pleased to say!}
