'It is likely that on the introduction of E10 at the 95 RON level, the currently available 'Super' grades with an octane level of 97 RON or higher, will cease to be available.'

I use high octane in all of my bikes. My expectation is that this generally has no/less ethanol content. On all my iron head bikes I use Castrol Valve Master lead replacement and octane booster. I've no clue if it works, I use little enough of it that the cost is not significant.

My Guzzi V50 won't run for 54!t on 95.

I asked how much for Castor at a chemist and 100ml bottle would've been Au$9 ($90/Ltr), figured that's a bit steep-not unexpected though- so asked at the local cosmetic/soap-making shop Au$40/Ltr...had a look on line and found another place in Perth $20/L +postage...then a model plane guy up the coast selling $45/5Litre, and was passing within a couple of miles anyway so snavelled a bottle of that...is that ok value?
From a stock& station agent you can get animal feed grade castor oil about $ 1/L
The brake fluid in Shadow I's is based on caster oil as is the hydraulics in Citrones.
Castrol are the only makers of RR 624 brake fluid @ $ 25 /L and there is 20 litres in the system that needs to be changed every 2 to 4 years.

hello greybeard I meant I was taking my photos of my car ,
Yes, I understood that you would be photographing your Morris 8. I had a Morris 8 Series E for a while. Is that what you have, or the earlier 8?

I use Castrol Valvemaster Classic in mine (lead replacement & octane booster) with Super Unleaded (97/98 RON).  On 95 RON, it runs like carp, with the mixture (generous on the additive), it goes like s**t off a shovel.  The only slight loss of power and pinking I get is usually up one of the Yorks Moors hills with a headwind and a slightly optimistic rider with a twisty right hand.  I've just managed to get 3 bottles of the Castrol off Fleabay for the equivalent of £11.50 each (cheapest I could get it).  If they introduce gnat's p**s petrol, I'll just whack more in or get the rocket fuel mentioned elsewhere.

I cannot believe you guys can get 95 and 98 at a regular pump.

I can get 89,90, and "kinda 91"! *eek*

Lots of turbo 108 octane booster, C12 fuel, Turbo blue 110 race fuel mixed (or not) with cheaper grades.

It really is a PIA over here if you have special fuel needs for you bike, boat, or classic Studebaker pick-up truck.

I bought one in about 1974. I will not go off topic any more by telling you the story.

Some years ago when Ethanol was first mentioned I went to see my local MP and he contacted the then Minister for transport and raised my concerns about the detrimental effects of Ethanol I recieved a letter back saying that at that time 5% was gradually being introduced and expected that it would be quite common by 2013/14 but it would eventually go to 10% but when it did it would be a legal requirement for the pumps dispensing it to be labelled at the 10% level but there was no legal requirement to label at 5%, this was back in 2011. The then Minister at the time was Philip Hammond the reply came from a deputy Norman Baker.

Tried Tesco Momentum 99 RON over the weekend.  Coupled with my Valvemaster additive, went really well.  Nice price at £1.27 litre (better than the £1.43 I was paying for V-Power).  Any comments my friends?

I've been using it for years. Not sure why some people say that supermarket fuel is inferior. I have 9:1 pistons and it never pinks on Momentum that is why I started using it, because it was the most widely available high octane petrol nation wide. If the government get their way (and they usually do one way or another) in 2020 it will be history though. Enjoy the benefits of it while you can.

I must admit, I've been impressed.  My bike is standard and does pink under load on the normal gnat's ****.  With higher octane, etc, it goes miles better.  I reckon sales of octane booster will increase if the Westminster muppets get their way.  They should keep it on for another 15 years at least to allow for older vehicles to benefit.  Probably the same when lead disappeared though.  Brit bikes will always find a way!
