Looking for long fork top nuts
« on: 17.08. 2018 06:38 »
Does anyone know where to get these?

I am using the triangular chronometric bracket,  and would like a pair of these,.

I am not sure how long "long" is, but i am thinking mine are none too long with the added depth of the bracket. That's just to make a long story not so long. *smile*

G'day Lee.
Do you mean 65-5331 ? I've never heard of longer ones. How thick are the brackets? The std nuts thread length should be able to handle brackets of 1/8" to 3/16".

I always thought it depended who made them. I've had ones with barely 3/4" of thread, whilst my latest purchase (stainless) have around one inch of thread.

Just pulled a top nut off, these are stainless.

I have 13mm of thread, total length. (about a 1/2 inch)

The chrono bracket is 3mm thick (1/8 inch)

The stanchion tube is 3 mm down the top tree (1/8 inch)

leaving me 6mm of threaded area, about 3.5 threads actually used.

I believe these beauties were purchased from Draganfly.

So if anyone can remember where they purchased a pair with longer threaded area, I would appreciate it.

Just got the chrono back in the mail yesterday.

Sorry about the pictures, I guess I have to wait for a contract to expire before I get a decent phone.

CPC Engineering, (see Services) could make some for you but surely you must have an engineer's closer to home.

CPC may be interested in producing a run of longer fork top nuts as other owners would want them.

Hi Lee,
A65 rod damper fork top nuts have about 3/4in of thread
They have the same threads as the A10,
The heads are thicker than the A10's though

I ordered a SS set that is longer.

I was thinking about these short nuts, they were not made for top caps. I believe these were intended to be tank filter nuts and they just left the wire mesh off. Then they could call them fork top nuts. *sad2*

Ok,

New longer top nuts sourced from "the Bonneville shop",  usual generic parts re-seller.

Smeared in anti-sieze,  and installed. I feel better now that there are more than 3 threads in the stantion.

I thought about making my own. Material would cost me 7 dollars an inch, I would want 5 inches to be comfortable.

The nuts cost me 35.00, I literally cannot make these for less money than I can buy them.

But that's the power of bulk metal buying and CNC.

Can you share the part number from The Bonnevile Shop?

 Lets try this:

https://thebonnevilleshop.com/bsa-a7-a10-a50-a65-c10-c11-c12-c15-b31-b40-stainless-fork-top-nuts-2-pn-65-5331-s-97-2652-s/

Thats their website, if you look for stainless bsa top nuts on EBay, the same nuts come with free shipping. $35.00 all in, and they actually fit.
