opinions please? Plug color
« on: 03.09. 2018 11:48 »
Hi, guys well I'm 260miles in after my rebuild and I pulled the plugs yesterday to check the state of play,
And I was looking for your views on how they look. Good, bad, ok etc.
I'm a bit puzzled as to why one is wet.

G'day tl.
Right is lean and burning a bit of oil, Left is burning a bit more than the right.
Cheers

Don't think I'd be too worried with those, given today's strange brew

Oil burn could be the SRM oil pump pushing more oil to the top end and some going down the inlet valve guides. Nortons with high output pumps have inlet valve guide seals to counter this..

G'day tl.
Lots of reasons it could be burning oil. Not run in hard enough and the bores are glazed, broken oil ring, bored with too much piston clearance, leaking head gasket etc, etc.
I'd be more concerned with the lean looking plug.
Cheers

if its a maggie ignition it could be a bad ignition. oil problem if its burning a pint every few hundred miles. i d try electronic ignition or coil ignition first . then tune the carb. afterwards revert to the mag if thats your preference.
