Thanks for the explanation Bill. I should have said, it's a Wassell unit I have.
{BTW...are you the Bill who lives in the Luc-sur-Mer Normandy area of La Belle France?}

That's moi Rex, oui! Am about 50 miles west of there in fact, but to be found loitering there of a Saturday morning usually, and/or for retro moto events.

Yes, that's where we've met at the International Rally.  ;)

Put the regulator on the test bench today and it buzzed up a treat. 12v in and 7.8v out. Wiring has been completed and braided in black polyester braid with a green and yellow fleck  very fetching. I need to find or make some bullet conectors for the bottom of the regulator and then it is time to start putting in fluids and giving it a kick.

sounds like good work done slymo.
you can always start it without the electrics finished - they're all optional extras
brit spares have/had the original lucas sized bullets, assuming the indians haven't changed the sizing. or your local auto-sparkie for 'modern' sizes

just in time for summer!

Yes indeed. Started it yesterday and it sounds very nice. Very mechanically quiet and quite smooth for the limited time I had it going. It was inside the shed so I just ran it long enough to see the oil recycling and shut it down. Definitely a morale booster though :)

that sounds satisfying
if you've bored it or new rings then make sure you don't idle it for too long - not good for the bores which need some work.
get it on the road!

Yes I won’t start it again until I can ride it. Wiring is all done apart from the tail light which will happen next time I can escape to the shed. The tension is building! :)
