Wheel Spindle

Can someone tell me if there is a nut  on the end of the wheel spindle for A7 1951 plunger, there appears to be enough thread showing for a half nut to fit and would appear there should be one there. Parts book dosent show one. Also what thread, it is left hand

Assuming you are asking about the front wheel spindle. If your bike is the same design as my '55er then no. A small amount of thread protrudes beyond the fork axle boss. The axle is locked by the pinch bolt on the left side. I'm away from home at the moment, so cannot go and look to verify my statement.

Yes sorry it is front wheel , set up is same as yours with pinch bolt.

Confirm GB. No locknut.
Having enough thread sticking out for a nut seems a lot to me.
On mine there’s virtually no thread protruding (maybe half a turn or so)

Ive got enough threads for a half nut,just, and the hole at the other end of the spindle, to undo it, partially goes in side the hole in the tube

Below is cross section of the A10 8 inch front brake and fork bottom.

You could be missing the tube which goes through the bearing and brake plate.

Ive just done all the fork bushes and steering bearings seals etc. The tube is there, its easy to push it back inside the drum which I did. The amount of thread thats protruding was the same as when I started and probably not an issue, I just wondered if there was a half lock nut, which they obviously dont

Studying that drawing, you can see that the axle tightens the timing side hub bearing against the fork leg boss. The drive side hub bearing is not locked by the axle. The bearing outer is located in position by the hub.
The pinch bolt on the drive side fork leg allows the stanchion to 'float' to the correct position before locking it up; also prevents the axle coming undone, of course.
