Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a front mudguard for my 61' Super Rocket. I believe it's the deep valanced type and is part number: 42-6553.

From some research, it appears these are quite difficult to come by. Does anyone have suggestions as to who might have one or make them? I'm in the US, so I'm unaware of most of the UK suppliers outside the large ones.

Thanks,

Andrew

unfortunately a lot of people replaced the full valanced mudguard with alloy ones trying to make rgs replicas mine looked like some sort of acid had been spilled on it and removed part of the chrome think the re plate was around $300.00 on my 1962 super rocket

Unfortunately this type of front guard, with the flimsy mounts, can be prone to splitting as can be seen in the photo.

As part of my plan to return my 1961 SR to its original appearance, I bought a vintage, valanced front fender to replace the custom/modified fender that came with the bike.  I also bought a pair of the Y-shaped brackets used to attach the fender to the fork sliders.  I tried dry-fitting the assembly today and encountered a problem - the bolts welded to the sliders are 1-1/2" apart, but the corresponding holes in the brackets are only 1" apart.  Do I have the wrong brackets, or did a previous owner move the bolts?  I assume the bolts are wrong, just wanted to check before I have them cut off and moved.

Comparing my existing sliders with photos of other A10's, the bolts have clearly been modified.  Not only are they too far apart, they are also missing the round boss at the base.  It might be easier to buy a new set of sliders rather than modify the ones I have, though I'm not looking forward to another fight with the circlips.

Thanks Thackero.  I bought a pair of sliders from an eBay seller a few weeks ago.  Haven't fitted them or the new fender yet, but will do so soon.
