SRM oil feed banjo
« on: 25.02. 2019 09:15 »
I need to replace my rocker oil feed banjo and the SRM replacement seems nice.
My bolts are a quite rounded so I would like to replace these too however the SRM replacements have a larger diameter oil feed hole.
Has anyone used these and are there any issues with the increased oil supply to the rocker box?
Cheers, Hadrian.

G'day Hadrian.
I'd be a bit sus on them. Are you sure their for A7/10's? It's a balancing act between that hole and the one in the tank return pipe. A larger hole will allow more oil to the rockers and less to the tank so eventually all the oil will be in the sump.

The hole certainly looks big, I believe Goldie  (or other) ones have that size hole, have they got the order mixed up,
From a non engineers perspective I would have thought the drain holes provided plus cam followers drainage should allow as much oil to get away as would be provided by that size hole, spose crankcase pressure has an effect.
Just read Muskrat comment - yes going to give the pump more work

Thanks for the replies.
I rather suspected this may be the case as the small holes on the existing bolts seem to supply excessive oil to the tappets anyhow.
Cheers, Hadrian.

These are all they sell now, they are listed as direct replacements for the small hole ones.

I'm looking forward to others opinions on this!

Spose with further thought the feed pipe itself might be restriction enough

Used a Webco manifold, exhaust bolt large hole, inlet bolt small hole and had no problems.

For 6 quid each I may try them out if only for the research.
Unless another member has tried them out and warns me off in the meantime *doubt*

Thanks Julian.
I have also seen another (unnamed) type while searching today which was a similar price to the SRM unit.
However they both look a bit rough in comparison.
Not that I'm a poser (much!) ;)

I believe barleycorn engineering make the correct ones.

Thanks Bill.
I just put my order in with SRM for the feed pipe , two banjo bolts, and a couple of copper washers for the dome nuts.
For less than AU$100 including delivery it seems pretty good value.
Now for the wait, oh the tyranny of distance!
Kind wishes to all and I'll update on how it pans out.
Cheers, Hadrian.

Hi all.
Just an update. Received my SRM oil feed unit and am very happy with it however during a ride today a bolt worked loose with the obvious consequences. Lucky I didn't lose it as it was dangling in the  breeze *eek*.
Quick footpath fix and away but annoying.
Could someone tell what I am missing here? Torque setting? How many threads should be visible on the opposite side for the Dome nuts?
Thanks in advance,
Hadrian.

Hiya Haddo- I had the same thing happen a few times but seems to have settled down, but I still drilled through the heads of the bolts and made a fancy stainless wire circlip for it.....I didn't think had a picture to show but realized I'm looking at it on the other side of the road from cold *beer* *beer* sol take a pic when I'm done...
My take on the dome nuts is they should be done tight to pull the shoulder of the rocker shaft home solid before the oil feed banjos are done up tight
